Match the fiber link to the control system

CVT10 and CVT4K converters carry LED-display data between optical and Ethernet connections. Select the S or M model for your fiber type and distance, then verify the port mapping, transmission rate and backup arrangement for the sending equipment.

Select the right fiber and port layout

01 / fiber

Choose S or M for the fiber link

S models specify single-mode transmission up to 10 km. M models specify multimode transmission up to 300 m. Cable type and optical conditions must match the selected model.

02 / ports

Check active ports before planning

CVT10 optical-to-Ethernet output uses eight or ten ports depending on the front-end encoding rate. CVT4K provides sixteen Ethernet ports with separate optical backup connections.

03 / mount

Plan the installation around the unit

CVT10 offers horizontal, suspended and rack arrangements. CVT4K mounts in a standard 19-inch rack. Follow the documented fixing, cooling and power-connection requirements.

04 / signal conversion

Convert optical and electrical data

Every listed CVT10 and CVT4K S/M variant converts optical and electrical LED-display data between a sending device and the display.

01 / match

Match the optical connection

Select the S or M converter and the matching LC fiber. Check optical type, distance and link conditions before connecting the sending equipment.

02 / route

Follow the documented port mapping

Use the primary and backup optical ports as documented. CVT4K backup ports mirror the primary groups; they are not additional independent Ethernet outputs.

03 / power

Provide power and mounting space

Use the specified AC supply and mounting arrangement. Allow the required ventilation and follow the connector handling instructions in the model document.

Häufige Fragen

Frequently asked questions

How do the S and M models differ?

S models use single-mode fiber and specify transmission up to 10 km. M models use multimode fiber and specify up to 300 m. The fiber class, LC connection and optical conditions must match the exact model.

Does CVT10 always provide ten active output ports?

For optical-to-Ethernet conversion, CVT10 supports eight ports at 10G 8b/10b or ten ports at 10.3125G 64b/66b. Ethernet-to-optical conversion supports all ten ports. Verify the front-end transmission mode.

Do CVT4K backup optical ports add capacity?

No. OPT3 backs up OPT1 and OPT4 backs up OPT2. The primary optical ports carry Ethernet groups 1–8 and 9–16, so the backup connectors do not create additional independent Ethernet outputs.

Can the converters operate in both optical-to-Ethernet and Ethernet-to-optical directions?

Yes. The documented conversion is bidirectional. The available Ethernet-port count and optical backup arrangement still depend on whether the model is CVT10 or CVT4K.

How is the converter configured?

CVT10 provides USB-B control and requires NovaLCT V5.4.0 or later; its USB port is not a cascade connection. CVT4K provides USB-B and Ethernet control ports.

Which model documents are available?

The current downloads include the CVT10 Fiber Converter Specifications V1.3.6, CVT4K-S Specifications V1.0.7 and CVT4K-M Specifications V1.0.6, all in English.
